Sweet-natured Cruze

Horse of the month: Cruisin' Jack

This is Cruisin' Jack, a 10-year-old Thoroughbred, 15.3hh. He has been with us for just over two years, and has been owned by Natalie for nearly five years. She describes him as sweet-natured, and he is learning dressage.

Around and About at Bellerive

It has been some time since this site has been updated, mainly because we started an exciting new venture nearly three years ago. It is just coming to fruition with the prospective opening of our Moorabool Valley Chocolate By Design Chocolaterie and Tea Rooms. Lynne has been running a handmade chocolate business from our farmhouse, and we decided that we should expand operations. We are hoping to open just before Easter, when our agistees will be able to enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, cakes and, of course, our delicious and unique handmade chocolates.

Over the past two years, the Geelong Bypass Road has been under construction, with a significant part of our property being taken over for part of the freeway and a major interchange. This week, the new road and part of the interchange was opened to traffic. We are hoping that the increased traffic will benefit our business.

Last year, the horse industry in Australia was devastated by an outbreak of Equine Influenza. All movements of horses within the country were banned or severely restricted, shows and equestrian events cancelled, and we closed our gates to new agistees. Fortunately, the bans were lifted before Christmas and we are once again 'open for business'.

Because of the EI outbreak, there are currently no events on the calendar. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Check the relevant equestrian organisation websites, or enquire at your local horse supply store. We hope that the calendar will be available later in the year.
